The design challenge: make the whole room feel like Halloween
A corporate celebration needs décor that works from more than one viewpoint. For this event, we carried the theme overhead and across opposite ends of the room. Black, orange, and purple balloons connected the installations, while cartoon eyes, spiders, and zombie accents kept the look playful.
A giant balloon spider overhead
The room’s signature feature was a larger-than-life black balloon spider suspended above the tables. Long balloon legs stretched outward across the ceiling, creating a sculptural canopy. Oversized white eyes gave the spider a friendly personality and made it a focal point from across the room.
Using the ceiling added impact above the seating area while keeping the floor available for tables and movement. It also made the theme visible in wide room photographs, beyond the dedicated photo areas.
A Halloween arch with personality
A black balloon arch accented with orange and purple framed the Happy Halloween backdrop. Eyeballs and smiling spider details repeated the characters used elsewhere in the room, tying the separate displays together.
The arch created another visual destination and showed how a familiar balloon shape can take on a custom personality through color, scale, and themed accents.
An orange-and-black photo wall
At the other end of the space, a checkerboard of metallic orange and black square balloons formed a dimensional backdrop. An organic balloon border in black, orange, and purple softened the grid, with zombie, eyeball, and spider accents adding detail.
Paired with a chair and a mad-scientist costume, the wall created a theatrical setting for Halloween photos. The reflective squares brought a different texture to the room while staying within the same color story.
The finished space
The completed installation gave Sysco Iowa’s trunk-or-treat celebration a coordinated Halloween setting at three scales: a room-spanning ceiling feature, a freestanding arch, and a detailed photo wall. Each piece had its own role, and the repeated colors and characters made them feel like parts of one design.
This project illustrates how custom balloon décor can transform a corporate space for a seasonal celebration, employee event, or themed gathering.
